Shreyas Iyer, who made Kolkata Knight Riders the champion last year, was released. After which there was full expectation of a big bet on Iyer, but there was a huge race between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals regarding him. Iyer crossed 20 crores in no time. Both the franchises were not ready to accept defeat, and in the end Punjab Kings took advantage of their respective purses and created history by buying it for Rs 26.75 crore.
