Delhi: Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by five wickets in the second qualifier match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 played on 1 May and confirmed their place in the final. With this victory, it has been decided that IPL 2025 will get a new champion, as the two teams (Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore) have not won a single title till date.
In this match, Punjab Kings captain and star batsman Shreyas Iyer played a match of 87 runs and took the team on the path of victory. After the match, Iyer said that he enjoys such big occasions and his attention was on keeping himself calm.
He said, “To be honest, I did not know what I am going to do, but I like big opportunities. I always tell the team that the bigger the match, the more calm.
Mumbai Indians usually do not lose by chasing 200+ scores, but this time Shreyas Iyer’s strategy changed the attitude of the match.
He further said, “Every player should focus on the goal and should already show the intention with the ball. I knew that if I spend more time at the crease, I will perform better. Our uncapricated players are excellent, I do not expect much of them, but I love their fearless nature.”
