Delhi: Shubman Gill, the young batsman of the Indian cricket team, has shared some special memories of his cricket career in an interview. In this interview to Hollywood reporter, he mentioned from his debut to the big successes at the international level.
Winning Champions Trophy a dream experience
When Gill was asked how was the feeling of winning the Champions Trophy, he said that it is very difficult to narrate this happiness in words. He told that he only thought in childhood to play for India and win the ICC Trophy. But when he won this trophy with veterans like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, that moment became very special for him. Gill said that these players have been his ideal and lifting the trophy with them was like a dream being fulfilled.
World Cup final defeat not expected
Gill said that even though Team India suffered defeat in the final of the ODI World Cup, it does not mean that they played poor cricket. He said that the whole story is not decided by a match. He believes that India was the best team in that tournament, and the team performed brilliantly throughout the tournament.
No major changes before Champions Trophy
In the interview, when he was asked what changes he made in his game between the defeat of the World Cup and the victory of the Champions Trophy, Gill said that he did not make any major changes inside him. He also informed that the team also decided to learn from old experiences instead of a new experiment.
Victory became the key to confidence
Gill said that the victory against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy league stage increased the team’s confidence. After this, he decided that further matches would be played with the same plan and thinking. Old memories definitely came to mind, but the team decided to leave them behind.
