Delhi: Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has made a big statement about slow over speed in Test cricket. They believe that slow over speed is not a problem. Hog’s comment came at a time when England have faced a two -point reduction in the ICC World Test Championship despite a thrilling win by England in Lord’s Test. The England team could not meet the prescribed over speed.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Brad Hogg said, “When the match is not running fast and the over rate is slow, even if there is tension in the game, it is acceptable. We want to have seriousness in the game, the players should show their character.”
He further said, “As soon as there is pressure in the match, the slow over speed is not harm, because this is quality cricket.”
Slow game is part of strategy in English conditions
Hogs also said that bowlers need to save energy in circumstances like England. He said, “This is a kind of cat and a rat race, when the batsmen dominate, the bowlers wait for the moment when the batsmen become defensive and can surprise them.”
