Delhi: The ODI series has started between Sri Lanka (SL) and Bangladesh (BAN). The first match is being played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. After winning the Test series 1-0, the Sri Lankan team wants to start this ODI series with a win.

Three players debut

In this match, Sri Lankan captain Charith Asanka won the toss and decided to bat first. He said, “The pitch looks fine. We will try to score more runs on the board. Milan Rathanayake is debuting for us. Dew can be an important factor. That is why we have come with an extra bowler.”

A total of three players have made their ODI debut in this match. Milan Priynath Rathnayake has made his ODI debut from Sri Lanka. He has played five Test matches before. Parvez Hussain Imon and spinner Tanveer Islam have got a chance to debut for Bangladesh. Both of them have played T20 International first.

There has been a big change in Bangladesh team. Najmul Hasan Shanto has left the ODI captaincy and now Mehdi Hasan Miraj has become the new full time captain. Many young players have got a chance in the team. This is the first time since 2005 that experienced players like Mashrafe Murtaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah are not part of the playing XI.
