Delhi: South Africa cricket team has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy. This tournament will be played in Pakistan and United Arab Emirates from 19 February. The Proteas team will play their first match against Afghanistan at the National Stadium in Karachi on 21 February, and after this they will also have to play group matches against Australia and England.

Nortje and Ngidi return

Fast bowlers Enrique Nortje and Lungi Ngidi have returned to this team, who were out of cricket for some time due to injuries. Nortje suffered a leg injury, while Ngidi had a back pain problem. The interesting thing is that 10 players from the team that played in last year’s ODI World Cup semi-finals remain in this team.

Entry of new players into the team

Some new players have also joined the T-20 World Cup runner-up and World Test Championship finalist South Africa team. Young players like Tony De Giorgi, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs and Wiaan Mulder are all set to make their debut in the Champions Trophy 2025. Team head coach Rob Walter said that the team has a good mix of experience and young players, who will learn a lot from this tournament.
