Delhi: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that it wants to recall all its players home by 26 May, so that they can reach England on time to prepare for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final starting at Lord’s from 11 June.
A total of 20 South African players are participating in this year’s IPL 2025. Eight of these players have been included in the WTC final team. These players are:
-Bin Bosch (Mumbai Indians)
-Vian Mulder (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
-Mco Yansen (Punjab Kings)
-Aden Markram (Lucknow Supergiants)
-Lungi Ngidi (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
-Kagiso Rabada (Gujarat Titans)
-Noan Ricelton (Mumbai Indians)

CSA’s men’s team head coach Shukri Konrad said on Tuesday, “The initial agreement with IPL and BCCI was that the final will be held on 25 May and our players would return on 26th, so that they can prepare well before leaving for England on May 30. There is no change from our point of view and we want to call our players back by 26 May.”
However, as per the revised IPL program, the league stage will run till 27 May and the playoffs will start from May 29, which can make the time of time for CSA players return challenging.
CSA cricket director Anocw Encway said that talks are going on with BCCI and IPL franchisees on this issue.
Significantly, all the players selected for the WTC final have been asked to report in the city of Arundel, England by 31 May. There he will play a practice match against Zimbabwe from 3 to 6 June and then will leave for Lord’s on 7 June, where the finals will be played from 11 June.
Other South African players, who are not in the WTC final team:

Significantly, the final consent between CSA and BCCI is yet to be reached, but the CSA is clearly adamant on recalling its players by 26 May, so that there is no obstruction in the preparation of the WTC final. In the coming days, it will be interesting to see to what extent BCCI collaborated in it.
