Delhi: Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), leg -spinner Suyash Sharma bowled brilliantly against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first qualifier of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He spent just 17 runs in his three overs and took 3 important wickets. Suyash sent Marcus Stoinis, Shashank Singh and Mushir Khan to the pavilion.
Suyash harassed the batsmen with his googly balls and PBKS batsmen could not read them. Thanks to his brilliant bowling, RCB won Punjab for just 101 runs and won the match by 8 wickets and made it to the finals.
After the first innings, Suyash while talking to the official broadcaster said, “Just tried to implement our coach’s plan correctly. I was feeling very good bowling today. I think no one could read my Googly. We took this match as a normal match, I did not think that it is a semi -final. I have worked hard on my bowling.”
Josh Hazelwood also performed amazing. In his 3.1 overs, he took 3 wickets for 21 runs. After the return, Hazelwood, playing the first match, dismissed the innings of Punjab by dismissing Josh England, Shreyas Iyer and Ajmatullah Omrajai.
Chasing the target, RCB got a fast start and the opening pair of Virat Kohli and Phil Soult added 30 runs in the first 3 overs. The team that won the match directly qualified for the final.
