Delhi: Team India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 1-3, but Jasprit Bumrah’s performance raised hopes. Bumrah was chosen Player of the Series for his sharp bowling. However, it was disappointing for him not to play on the last day of the last Test due to injury.
Steve Smith talked about Bumrah
Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting talked about the influence of Bumrah. He told that star batsman Steve Smith called Bumrah one of the toughest bowlers in the world. According to Smith, it is difficult to understand Bumrah’s bowling, due to which the batsman can get out early.
Ponting said, “I spoke to Smith, who has excellent technique against fast bowlers. He said that it may take 4-6 balls to understand Bumrah, and by then you may be out. If you do not adopt the right strategy against Bumrah on such a challenging pitch, your innings can end quickly.”
Bumrah took 32 wickets in the series, for which he was named Player of the Tournament. This is the best performance by an Indian fast bowler in Australia.
Will Bumrah play in the Champions Trophy?
The condition of Bumrah’s injury is not clear yet. He is not likely to play in the ODI and T20 series against England in January. His return may be possible in the Champions Trophy to be held next month.
