Delhi: Australian cricket team’s legendary batsman Steve Smith has regained his lost form. He scored a brilliant century in the third test match being played against India at Gabba. This is the 33rd century of his Test career and his 10th century against the Indian team. This is his first Test century in 2024.

Smith completed his century facing 185 balls. In the beginning, the Indian bowlers put pressure on him, but as soon as his eyes settled, he started scoring runs by playing attractive shots. At one time, Australia’s three batsmen had returned to the pavilion for just 75 runs, but Smith along with Travis Head took charge of the innings. Head also scored a century for the second consecutive match. Indian bowlers had completely failed to dismiss both of them.
Smith left Steve Waugh behind
This was Smith’s 33rd Test century. With this he left behind former Australia captain Steve Waugh and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, who had scored 32-32 centuries. Now Smith has equaled former great England batsman Alastair Cook, who had scored 33 Test centuries in his career.
Second most centuries for Australia
Smith has come second among the batsmen who have scored the most centuries for Australia. At the first place is Ricky Ponting, who scored 41 centuries in 287 innings of 168 Test matches. Smith now has 33 centuries to his name. Among active players, only England’s Joe Root has scored more centuries than Steve, who has 36 centuries in 152 Test matches. At the same time, Virat Kohli has 30 test centuries in his name.
