Delhi: Veteran spinner Sunil Narine took two wickets against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and set a record for becoming the highest wicket -taking bowler against one team in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has taken 36 wickets against Punjab so far. Earlier, Umesh Yadav had 35 wickets against Punjab, but on Tuesday, Naren broke the record taking two wickets for just 14 runs in three overs.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) stopped Punjab for just 111 runs due to Naren’s tremendous bowling and his partnership with Varun Chakraborty (who too took two wickets). Harshit Rana also took three wickets and due to this the defending champions were expected to score two easy points.
However, KKR started poorly in response. Quinton de Kock and Sunil Naren were dismissed early and the situation began to look a bit worrisome. However, captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi shared a 55 -run innings, but Rahane was dismissed for 17 runs.
After this, nothing was right for the visiting team. The wickets started falling like cards and in the middle overs, Yuzvendra Chahal’s fatal bowling created a furore. He took Kolkata for just 111 runs with four wickets and gave Punjab Kings a stunning victory of 16 runs. Apart from this, Marco Yansen took 3 wickets.
