T20 World Cup prize money had to ask for heavy: players expelled, forced to leave country.

Delhi: After playing the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Making Prize Money became a big setback for many players of Oman Cricket Team. The players raised their voice for their rights, but the result was that they were not only excluded from the team but also had to leave the country. Now these players are forced to find jobs in other places.

In this tournament held in the US and the West Indies, Oman’s team may not win any match, but all the participating teams were given reward money from the ICC. Oman received about 2.25 million dollars i.e. 1.93 crore rupees. According to the rules of ICC, this amount should have been given to the players. However, according to the report of ISPNcricinfo, the Oman Board did not give this money to the players.

Players did not get rights

The players of Oman kept asking for reward from the board several times, but no response was received. On the contrary, the contracts of all the players of the World Cup team were canceled. Team player Kashyap Prajapati is now in America and is trying to live by doing jobs. He said, “Our contracts were torn, were expelled from the team and had to leave the country. We do not know why the ICC is not taking a clear stand in this issue and why there is no platform for the safety of the players.”

The prize money of 2021 World Cup was also not received

Kashyap further told that even in the World Cup of 2021, the board did not distribute prize money. Then he did not even know that ICC gives money. When the series with Nepal and Canada took place before the 2024 World Cup, it was questioned. But in response it was said that ‘focus the game’.

Players expelled from the team after threats

Later, when the players reiterated the demand that they were given confidence, they were threatened by the board that if they do not play, they would be expelled from the team. When the players did not agree, they were asked to leave the hotel. Only two players from the World Cup team were rescued in the next team, the rest were excluded.

Cricketers were forced to leave the country

Visa is associated with jobs in Gulf countries like Oman. So after being out of the team, the players could not stay in the country. Fayaz Butt said, “I had to leave Oman. Now there is no work, nor cricket’s career is left.”
