Delhi: Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal suffered a heart attack during the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match on the morning of 24 March. The match was being played between Mohammadan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club in Savar. An attempt was made to take him to Dhaka by helicopter, but his condition deteriorated on the way, due to which he was brought back and admitted to Phajilatunnesa Hospital.
Tamim Iqbal’s condition critical
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief doctor Dr. Debashish Chaudhary said, “Initial investigation was suspected to have a mild heart -related problem. He was planned to be taken to Dhaka, but his health suddenly deteriorated and he had to be brought back to the hospital while going towards the helipad. Later he had a big heart attack.”
He further said, “This is a difficult time for all of us. Tamim is currently under the supervision of doctors, and is being fully taken care of.”
According to the report of Bangladesh newspaper ‘Daily Star’, “Tamim’s brother Nafees Iqbal and his mother are present in the hospital. The doctors performed him an angiogram, which revealed that his artery is 100% block and another is also affected.”
