Delhi: The Indian cricket team defeated Australia by 4 wickets in the semi -final match of the Champions Trophy 2025 and made it to the finals. Batting first, Australia lost all the wickets by scoring 264 runs in 49.3 overs, after which India achieved this target by losing 6 wickets in 48.1 overs.
Australia’s innings
Australia won the toss and decided to bat first, but the Indian bowlers gave them shocks quickly. Captain Steve Smith (73) and Travis Head (39) batted for some time, but the rest of the batsmen did not succeed in scoring big scores.
Mohammed Shami, the main wicket-content, who took 3 wickets for 48 runs in 10 overs. Apart from this, Varun Chakraborty also bowled brilliantly and took 2 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja also shocked the middle order of the Australian team, he took 2 wickets.
In Australia’s innings, only Steve Smith could bat some effectively, while other batsmen failed to play a big innings. After Alex Carrie (61), all other batsmen were dismissed early.
India’s goal
India got a target of 265 runs. India’s start was not so good. Captain Rohit Sharma (28) and Shubman Gill (8) returned to the pavilion early. However, Virat Kohli (84) and Shreyas Iyer (45) handled India’s innings.

The middle order of India was seen struggling a bit, but then KL Rahul (42*) and Hardik Pandya (28) did the match in favor of India, along with Akshar Patel (28) also shared a great partnership with Virat.
The contribution of the bowlers as well as the batsmen was important for India. Kohli played an important role in winning India by scoring an excellent 84 runs.
