Delhi: Former Team India captain Mohammad Azharuddin has given a big statement about the cricket relations between India and Pakistan. They believe that if there cannot be bilateral cricket between the two countries, then it is not right to play against each other even in international tournaments.
‘Either everything, or nothing’
Azharuddin said, “I always believe that either everything should be, or nothing should be. If you cannot play bilateral series, then there should be no face to face in multilateral tournaments.”
This statement comes at a time when the Asia Cup 2025 program has been decided between India and Pakistan in the UAE on 14 September. Apart from this, if both teams reach the final, then they can face three times in the tournament.
Bilateral series not played after 2012
The last time bilateral cricket series between India and Pakistan was played in December 2012. At that time, Pakistan’s team visited India and played a series of limited overs. After this, both teams have collided with each other only in the ICC and ACC tournaments.
This statement by Azharuddin has once again given air to the ongoing debate about India-Pakistan cricket. It will now be seen what attitude is taken on the match between these two teams in the Asia Cup and other international tournaments.
