Team India’s biggest problem before the last Test against England, as per Ajinkya Rahane:

Delhi: Former India captain Ajinkya Rahane has expressed a big concern about Team India on his YouTube channel. In the Manchester Test, India batted for about two days and draws the match, but Rahane believes that the bowling department is becoming the biggest weakness of the team.

Bowlers have a poor form headache

Rahane said that the team has done very well in batting but the bowlers are united and not doing well. In the Manchester Test, England had scored around 700 runs in the first innings and if Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar had no brilliant innings, India could have lost the match. Rahane said, “The team is playing well and the batting has been fantastic. But bowling is a matter of concern. Some bowlers are doing well but they are not getting the right support.”

Questions raised on Gambhir’s team selection policy

Team selection is also believed to be a reason behind this poor performance of bowling. There is criticism for the policy of choosing the team of India’s coach Gautam Gambhir. Many people believe that Gambhir is trusting more all -rounders and ignoring specialist bowlers.

Manjrekar also expressed resentment

Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar also questioned Gambhir’s strategies and said that India’s performance has been better due to the combative spirit of the players and not because of Gambhir’s strategies. Manjrekar said, “India has shown a good game but despite some wrong decisions. New Zealand defeated India 3–0, but the same team lost to Australia easily. This means that Team India’s fight is the hard work of the players. Some strategies of Gambhir have been confusing, especially in the team selection. And to say that Karun Nair is not dropped… It is not correct…”

Balance of injuries also spoiled

Team India’s bowling in the Manchester Test became even more weak when Nitish Kumar Reddy and Akash Deep were out due to injury. Both bowlers performed well in the last Test. Especially Akash Deep also won the Player of the Match award while bowling brilliantly in the Birmingham Test.
