Delhi: There is an atmosphere of turmoil in the Indian cricket team these days, where captain Rohit Sharma, veteran batsman Virat Kohli and coach Gautam Gambhir are in the headlines. Along with the poor performance of Team India on the Australia tour, the controversy is also deepening regarding the leaking of news from inside the dressing room. Reports have claimed that young batsman Sarfaraz Khan and a member of the coaching staff have been accused of leaking news.
Before the Sydney Test, a report had revealed the tension in Team India’s dressing room after the Melbourne Test and coach Gambhir’s displeasure with his players. Not only this, there were reports of lack of coordination between Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and Coach Gambhir. After these reports the controversy in the team increased further.
This matter was discussed in the review meeting of BCCI after returning from Australia tour. During this, coach Gambhir alleged that Sarfaraz leaked the dressing room talks to the media. However, now a new report has claimed that not only Sarfaraz, but a member of Gambhir’s support staff is also accused of leaking the news.
However, the name of that support staff member was not revealed in the report. Gambhir’s support staff includes Abhishek Nair, Morne Morkel, Ryan Ten Deschate and T Dilip. Of these, Nair, Morkel and Deshkate have been appointed on the recommendation of Gambhir. In such a situation, the allegation has been leveled against one of these four members.
Amidst this controversy, Sitanshu Kotak has been included in the team as batting coach for the series against England. Kotak earlier used to coach at the National Cricket Academy. According to reports, he has been called on the recommendation of coach Gambhir. This new appointment has raised questions whether Gambhir has lost confidence in one of his assistant coaches.
Now it remains to be seen how this dispute will be resolved in the coming time and whether the internal issues in Team India are resolved or not.
