Delhi: On Wednesday, March 20, the captains of all ten teams gathered for the meeting in Mumbai before the start of IPL 2025. IPL 2025 will start from March 22, with the first match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). During this meeting, the BCCI officials discussed several issues and especially there was a long conversation on the removal of saliva ban.

Two balls used in second innings

The BCCI has introduced a new rule for IPL 2025, under which two balls will be used in the second innings. This rule has been brought especially to solve the problem of dew, because the team batting in the second innings used to benefit a little more. With this new rule, an attempt has been made to make the game equal for both teams.

Conditions of new terms

Under this new rule, the team bowling in the second innings will get a new ball from the 11th over. However, there are some other conditions, such as the umpires will decide whether the dew is sufficient or not, so that the other ball can be used. This rule will not be applicable in matches played during the day.

Removed salivary ban

Another significant change has taken place in this meeting, as the BCCI, while taking action on the complaint of Mohammed Shami, has lifted the ban on saliva for IPL 2025, as stated in a report of cricbes. Significantly, this ban was implemented during Kovid-19, when the players were forbidden to put saliva on the ball.
