Delhi: There is turmoil in the Indian cricket team after the Australia tour. BCCI has implemented 10 new rules to tighten the noose on the players, due to which senior players may have to face difficulties. On this, former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has taken a dig at players like Virat Kohli without taking names.
Manjrekar criticized the recent performance of Team India and gave the example of Sachin Tendulkar. He said, “Even big stars like Master Blaster never walked with their bodyguards. But, nowadays the culture of the Indian cricket team has become like that of Bollywood, where star players are seen everywhere with bodyguards.”
Talking about the new rules of BCCI, Manjrekar said, “These rules seem childish, when Team India lost against Australia and New Zealand, then suddenly everyone’s attention went to the culture of the team. But, when the Indian team was winning continuously, why did no one pay attention to it? It is not right to wait for defeat every time to learn something.”
It is known that BCCI has imposed many restrictions on the players. In order to maintain team discipline and unity, it is mandatory for all the players to tour together. No player will be able to keep personal staff with him and will not be able to leave the team after the series is over.
Comparison of Indian team with Bollywood
Manjrekar said, “The current culture of the Indian team has become like Bollywood. I hope that after these new rules, Indian cricket will retain its true identity.”
