Delhi: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday confirmed that the owners of the four teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have now become a strategic partner in the ‘The Hundred’ tournament. These partners will get the responsibility of operating the teams from 1 October 2025.
Which Indian groups got partnership
It consists of four major companies in India: GMR Group, Sun TV Network, RPSG Group (Lucknow Super GIANTS) and Reliance Group. According to ECB, these partnerships will widely benefit cricket and will invest crores of pounds in the game.
Which teams will go to
The RPSG Group will hold a 70 percent stake in the Manchester Originals team. Sun TV network will get the entire (100 percent) share of Northern Super Thrings. GMR Group will be given 49 percent stake in the Southern Brave team.

In addition, Tech Titans got 49 percent in London Spirit, Nighthead Capital 49 percent in Birmingham Phoenix and Washington Freedom 49 percent in Welsh Fire.

ECB will get huge amount
ECB says that more than 500 million pounds will be invested in cricket from all these deals. A part of this amount will be given to Professional County Clubs while 50 million pounds have been prescribed especially for Grassroot Cricket (Cricket Development).
New era of ‘The Hundred’
ECB described it as an important turn in the history of ‘The Hundred’. According to the board, “Every investor has come up with his experience and thinking, which will give a new direction to the tournament.” This is the first time that a level of franchise has been partnership in a UK sports tournament.
ECB will have the main control
Although there is investment in teams, ECB has made it clear that the full control and ownership of the ‘The Hundred’ tournament will be with him. The final authority over rules, time tables and major decisions will be with ECB.
New board will be constituted
A new board will also be formed by combining the Investors and Host Clubs of ECB and teams, which will work on matters related to strategic direction and business development.
