Delhi: Usually, fans are only allowed to watch matches in international level stadiums, but Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) has taken a unique step. Now Mohali’s historic IS Bindra Cricket Stadium has also been opened for the general public. Cricket lovers can book this stadium and play matches here, that too on the pitch where great players of Indian cricket like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and Virat Kohli have played.

Mohali’s IS Bindra Stadium is important in many aspects of cricket, it has also been the home ground of Yuvraj Singh. While playing here, he made his place in Team India. Apart from this, this was also the home ground of IPL team Punjab Kings (PBKS). However, now Punjab Kings have made the new stadium built in Mullanpur their home ground. Apart from this, this ground gets very little hosting from BCCI, due to which its maintenance has become difficult. Therefore, PCA has decided to offer it on booking to the general public.

After the 2011 World Cup, this ground has hosted only 6 ODI and 4 T20 International matches, due to which its earnings have been affected. Although domestic matches are still held here, they do not generate sufficient income. Even during the 2023 ODI World Cup, no match was played in this stadium, due to which there was a lot of uproar. The last international match on this ground was played against Afghanistan on 11 January 2024.

What needs to be done to play the match?

Now IS Bindra Stadium of Mohali has opened for memorial and corporate tournaments. If any cricket lover wants to play a match here, he just has to pay the booking fee and make the booking through PCA website or email. Apart from this, PCA has also clarified that it is mandatory to have a cricket kit to play the match.
