Delhi: India had to face defeat in the Boxing Day Test match. Till the tea break of the fifth day, it seemed that the Indian team would draw the match, but after that the entire team was out in less than two hours. Rishabh Pant played a wrong shot, and then wickets kept falling one after the other.
Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali looked unhappy on this and targeted the team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, batting coach and Rishabh Pant. He said that players should have used their brain properly.
Error in team combination
Basit Ali said, “Gautam Gambhir sir, you were making a big left-right combination against New Zealand, but today you should have sent Nitish Reddy at number 6. Even if he gets out early, at least it will show that you have thought something.”
Questions were also raised on the batting coach
Basit Ali further said, “It is incomprehensible that the batting coach does not know how which bowler should play and how to stay on the wicket. India played very bad cricket.”
Australia’s plan praised
Basit Ali praised the strategy of the Australian team and said, “Australia did not give up and believed in their plan. This is the difference between the batsmen of the 90s and the batsmen who came after 2010. The batsmen of the 80s and 90s used to understand the plans of the opposition team quickly.”
Rishabh Pant’s mistake
Basit Ali also called Rishabh Pant’s shot wrong and said, “Rishabh Pant did a stupid thing. Went to hit a six, and that shot changed the entire match. Such shots caused loss to the team and the country. Pant should have used his brain.”
