Delhi: 13-year-old cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar created history in the mega auction of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 1 crore 10 lakh, making him the youngest player to join the IPL. In a video viral on social media, Vaibhav revealed that his favorite cricketer is not Virat Kohli or Sachin Tendulkar, but the great West Indies batsman Brian Lara. He told that he was fond of cricket since childhood and his father gave him full support to progress in this game. Apart from this, he said that he likes to eat chicken very much.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi recently played a brilliant inning of 104 runs in 62 balls while playing for India Under-19 team against Australia Under-19 team in Chennai.
Record made in domestic cricket
Vaibhav, a resident of Samastipur, Bihar, made his debut for Bihar against Mumbai in the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season. His age at that time was 12 years 284 days, making him the youngest player in the history of the tournament. Earlier, at the age of 12, he had scored almost 400 runs in five matches in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.
However, at the senior level, he has not been able to leave his mark yet. His average in five first-class matches has been 10. Nevertheless, his achievements at such a young age make him the future star of Indian cricket.
