Mohammad Irfan announced his retirement on social media platform X. He wrote, “I have decided to retire from international cricket. I express my gratitude to my teammates, coaches and fans who always loved and supported me. I will always support the game that has given me everything.”
Irfan last played an international match for Pakistan in 2019. Irfan, who debuted in 2010, represented the team in all three formats. He took 10 wickets in 4 Tests, 83 wickets in 60 ODIs and 16 wickets in 22 T20 International matches.
Irfan made his T20 International debut in 2012 against India at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In that match, he took 1 wicket for 25 runs in 4 overs. Even though his Test career was short, he led the team to victory on many occasions in ODI and T20 with his sharp bowling.
