Delhi: Australian all -rounder Bu Webster is trying his best to make it to the final XI for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against South Africa starting on June 11.
Webster has made a good impression on the selectors with its recent performance. He showed great form in the last Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played against India in Sydney and played two important innings of 57 and 39*. He also scored the runs from which Australia won the first Test series against India after 2014.

However, 31 -year -old all -rounder Cameron is presenting a tough challenge for the return from Green’s back surgery and his wonderful form for Gloster Sharey at the county championship. Webster has played three Tests so far, in which he scored 150 runs and has taken 3 wickets. If Green is selected only as a batsman, the webster can find a place as an all -rounder.
Webster told ICC Digital, “It will be a matter of pride for me to represent the country in such a big match. This match is very special for the players and it is an achievement to reach this point after a long journey of two years. I will make every effort to join and prove myself.”
Webster has also gained experience of playing under England’s circumstances, when he played four county matches for Warwickshire in May. He scored 157 runs in this, including a half -century and he also took 10 wickets, which increased his confidence.
Playing against South African fast bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Marco Yansen, although will be a different challenge, webster assumes that county cricket has enhanced their game.
He said, “I was lucky that I got a chance to play four matches for Warvikshire, that too in Duke Ball and different circumstances.
Under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, the Australian team will come out to save the ‘mess’ that they won by defeating India at the Oval in June 2023. At the same time, under the captaincy of Temba Bavuma, the South African team will come out in the hope of winning their first ICC title after more than two decades.
