Delhi: Before reaching Australia tour, the Indian cricket team had faced a 3-0 clean sweep in the Test series against New Zealand. After this, in the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played in Perth, India won by 295 runs, which was Australia’s first defeat in Perth. After this spectacular victory, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting praised the Indian team. Ponting said on Star Sports that India’s win at the Optus Stadium in Perth was unbelievable for anyone because India bowled brilliantly after being all out for 150 runs on the first day.

Ponting said, “When India won the toss and decided to bat first, I thought it was not the right decision, because in Perth all the teams batting first had won, but the Indian bowlers won the match with their bowling. Changed the stance. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj and other bowlers performed brilliantly.”
He also admitted that he did not think that India would be able to win this Test match, especially in foreign conditions like Perth. Ponting also praised India’s improvement in playing in away conditions, saying that India now plays better abroad than before, while not doing so well in home conditions. This victory proved the capability of the Indian team on foreign grounds.
India won the historic test match
The first match of the five-match Test series between India and Australia was played in Perth, which was very important for both the teams. The result of this match will decide which team will make it to the final of the ICC World Test Championship. Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and decided to bat first. India set a huge target of 534 runs for Australia, which the Australian team failed to chase and was reduced to only 238 runs.
