Delhi: India’s young batsman Tilak Verma has secured the best of his career in the ICC T20 rankings. In the latest ranking released on Wednesday, he got the benefit of an unbeaten 72 in the second T20 against England.
Chance to break Babar Azam’s record
At the age of 22 years and 82 days, Tilak has reached this point and now he is just 23 rating points behind the Travis Head at the top. He also has a chance to break the record of Babar Azam of Pakistan. Babur became the number-1 T20 batsman for the first time at the age of 23 years and 105 days in January 2018.
So far, Tilak has scored 725 runs in 23 T20 international matches. His average is 55.76 and the strike rate is 155.24. His name is also recorded in two T20 centuries. In the remaining two T20 matches against England, he can overtake the Travis Head by scoring a big score and can break the record of becoming the youngest batsman to reach the first number from Babar Azam.
Tilak’s 832 rating points are the fourth best achieved by an Indian batsman. Beyond them, only Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are. Tilak’s magnificent form ended in the third T20, when he was bowled by England spinner Adil Rashid. Earlier he 107120 (Both played innings of innings against South Africa), 19* and 72* (against England).
