Delhi: A new controversy has emerged between the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, with the difficulties of famous commentator Harsha Bhogle and Simon Douols. According to media reports, the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) has demanded to ban these two commentators from commentary in IPL matches to be held in Kolkata. For this, an official letter has also been sent to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
In fact, Harsha and Simon commented on the pitch of Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata and the curator Sujan Mukherjee. He had said that if the curator cannot give Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) a pitch of their choice, then all the matches should be shifted to another venue. After this statement, the CAB has taken a tough stand.
The entire case began when Kolkata Knight Riders expressed displeasure at not getting a spin friendly pitch at the Eden Gardens. Team captain Ajinkya Rahane clearly stated that he wants the pitch to be favorable for spinners. Reacting to this, curator Sujan had said that he prepares the pitch only according to the guidelines of BCCI.
Now that the Cab has demanded action on Bhogle and Duols, this dispute is getting deeper. Everyone’s eyes are now on what BCCI decides on this issue. Especially when the final match of IPL 2025 is also to be held in Kolkata.
