IPL 2025: Former Australian player Tom Moody has said that Dhoni playing in IPL for a long time is good for the tournament and for this there should be some change in the uncapped player rule.
A few days ago, the Indian Cricket Board had issued some rules for the mega auction of the IPL series to be held next year. In this, the uncapped player rule was seen as an important rule. It is noteworthy that there is criticism that this rule has been brought for Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The uncapped player rule announced by the Indian Cricket Board for the mega auction states that those who have not played for the Indian team and those who have played for the Indian team for 5 years will be considered as uncapped players.
According to this, teams can retain these players for Rs 4 crore. On this basis, CSK can retain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for just Rs 4 crore. Therefore, it is also being criticized that this rule was brought for Dhoni.
Tom Moody says, “I think it’s a great rule. This rule helps when you can play for a long time with good fitness. Without this rule it becomes difficult for you to retain players. With a player like Dhoni playing in IPL with this rule, the series will only benefit. He is a distinguished player.”
“This series is suitable for those who have not played for the Indian team for five years. But my personal opinion is that an uncapped player should be considered after playing three years for the Indian team. This will help many players to come into the IPL series as uncapped players.”
