Delhi: In this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), 14 -year -old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi has caught everyone’s attention. While playing for Rajasthan Royals, he scored history by scoring a century in just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans. This is the fastest century of any Indian batsman in IPL.

Australian legendary cricketer Steve Waugh was also surprised by Suryavanshi’s batting. However, he advised this young player to focus on his control and stability on the field. Steve Waugh said that there is amazing talent inside Vaibhav, but he has to be connected to the ground.

Steve Waugh advised Suryavanshi

Steve Waugh said, “There is no pressure on him at the age of 14. He is playing openly and it looks good. But, the real challenge will be when he will have great expectations.” Waugh said that after getting an IPL contract of more than one crore, he will become a millionaire before the age of 16. After this, he will be expected to perform well continuously.

He also said, “Will he continue to play with the same passion and freedom? This will be the real test. He has a skill and he looks mentally strong. If he succeeds, it will be a great story for cricket.”

“Talent like Tendulkar does not come again and again”

Every emerging batsman in India is often compared to Sachin Tendulkar. On this, Steve Waugh clearly said that Vaibhav or anyone should not be compared to Tendulkar. He said, “A player like Tendulkar does not come again and again. I saw Sachin’s 114-run century in Perth in 1991-92. At that age it was amazing to score a century on that pitch.”

Waugh further said, “I usually don’t watch IPL. But, when such a special player comes, I feel like seeing him. I never thought that a 14 -year -old boy would score a century in the IPL.”
