Delhi: At the age of 13 years and 269 days, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his List A cricket debut for Bihar against Madhya Pradesh in the inaugural match of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. With this, he made a special record in his name.

This Indian batsman is ready to leave Joe Root behind, just 245 runs away

Made many records at a young age

Vaibhav holds the record of becoming the youngest Indian player to play List A cricket. Earlier this record was in the name of Ali Akbar, who made his debut for Vidarbha in the 1999-2000 season at the age of 14 years and 51 days. This is another big record added to the cricket career of the young batsman. Last month, he created history by signing a contract with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 auction. He became the youngest player to get an IPL contract.

Earlier, in the same year, Vaibhav also made the record of playing first-class cricket at the youngest age in the modern era while playing for Bihar team against Mumbai in Ranji Trophy.

Second fastest century globally

Vaibhav is the youngest player to play for India’s Under-19 team. Apart from this, he also made the record of the Indian player scoring the fastest century in a youth test match. He scored this century in just 58 balls against Australia in Chepauk in September, which is the second fastest century at the world level.

Vaibhav’s performance in the recently held ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2024 was also excellent. He played an important role in taking India to the finals. He scored two half-centuries in the tournament, including a match-winning inning of 67 runs in 36 balls in the semi-final against Sri Lanka.

List A debut was not special

However, Vaibhav’s debut in List A cricket was not good. In the match between Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, he was out after scoring only four runs. Bihar had to face defeat in this match by six wickets.

Now Vaibhav’s next match will be against Tripura on Monday, where he will try to perform better.
