Vanindu Hasranga created history; Malinga also left behind in this matter

Delhi: After the end of the Test series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, now ODI matches have started. The first match of the three -match ODI series was played in Colombo on Wednesday, 2 July 2025. In this match, host Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 77 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. In this match, Vanindu Hasranga took 4 wickets for 10 runs.

In the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 244 runs in 49.2 overs. Captain Charith Asanka scored a brilliant century. He scored 106 runs off 123 balls which included six fours and four sixes. Apart from him, Kusal Mendis contributed 45 in 43 balls, Janith Liange 29 and Milan Rathnayake and Vanindu Hasranga contributed 22-22 runs.

Bangladesh got a target of 245 runs. The beginning was good, but the middle order and lower order batsmen flopped completely. The entire team was all out for 167 runs. Sri Lanka won the match by 77 runs.

Vanindu Hasranga created history

Vanindu Hasranga became the hero of the match, who wreaked havoc in bowling. He took 4 wickets for just 10 runs in 7.5 overs. During this time his economy was just 1.27. He was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant performance.

Along with this, Hasranga also created history. He has become the second bowler to take the fastest 100 ODI wickets from Sri Lanka. He has completed 103 wickets in 63 innings of 64 matches at an average of 24.31. His best performance in ODIs is 7 wickets for 19 runs. The fastest record in this case is the name of Ajanta Mendis who achieved this feat in 63 matches. Hasranga is now at number two, while in third place is veteran Lasith Malinga who took 100 wickets in 68 matches.

With this victory of Sri Lanka, there has been an edge in the series and now Bangladesh will have to return to the next match.
