Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR )’s mysterious spinner Varun Chakraborty has been convicted of a 25 percent match fee fee after being found guilty of violating the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct. Along with this, he has also been given a demerit point.
The incident occurred during the match played against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Eden Gardens Stadium on Wednesday. In the midst of the match, Varun had indicated to ‘return the pavilion’ with a finger gesture after dismissing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) explosive batsman Dewald Brevis, which was considered against the sportsmanship.
According to a media release released on the official website of the IPL, Varun accepted the violation of Level 1 under Article 2.5 of the Code of Conduct and also accepted the decision of the match referee. According to IPL rules, the decision of the match referee in violation of Level 1 is final and binding.
