Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spent Rs 23.75 crore for Venkatesh Iyer and included him back in the team. After the departure of former captain Shreyas Iyer, it is being speculated that Venkatesh can captain in the next IPL season. Meanwhile, news also came that Ajinkya Rahane may get the command of the team.

Vinod Kambli criticized Sachin Tendulkar, the legend took revenge like this

‘I always want to be a leader’

In an interview given to Indian Express, Venkatesh made it clear that he is willing to captain the team and if he gets this opportunity, he will consider it an honor. However, some reports have claimed that Ajinkya Rahane has been included in the team specifically as a captaincy option. Despite this, Venkatesh says that whether he becomes the captain or not, he wants to play the role of a leader in the team’s dressing room.

He said, “I have always said that I want to be a leader in every setup, be it a Madhya Pradesh team, an IPL team, or an Indian team. Becoming a leader means that you help the team with your ideas and suggestions. For this it is not necessary that you be the captain of the team. If I get a chance to captain, it will be an honor for me. Let’s see what the future has in store for me.”

Venkatesh’s statement on huge cost

Venkatesh, 29, admitted that there is some pressure due to the huge price tag. But, after the start of IPL it does not matter. He said, “It is a big change, from where I was yesterday to where I will be in the future, especially in terms of bank balance. If I say there is no pressure because of the price, it would be a lie. Nowadays people talk about you on social media and keep an eye on everything you do. I can’t ignore it completely. But, as soon as IPL starts, it does not matter whether you are selected for Rs 20 lakh or Rs 20 crore. You have a role in your team, which you have to play with full responsibility.”
