Delhi: Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has appealed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to conduct the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 in peace. The next phase of IPL is going to start from 17 May. On this day, there will be a contest between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Gavaskar said that in view of the current situation, the front part of the tournament should be played without noise and music. Due to increasing tension on the Indo-Pak border, many families have lost their close people, so it is necessary to avoid wasteful pomp.
Gavaskar’s special appeal
Talking to Sports Today, Gavaskar said, “Now there have been about 60 matches and these are the remaining 15-16 matches.
He further said, “Be it the game. Fans should come into the field. But it is better if it is limited to cricket. It will be better to avoid things like dancing, sharp music. This will honor the emotion of those families who are going through grief.”
IPL was stopped due to Pakistan attack
IPL 2025 had to be stopped for a week when Pakistan attacked Punjab and parts of Himachal Pradesh. During that time, the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was being played in Dharamshala, which had to be stopped in the middle. Now this match will be played in Jaipur on 24 May.
