Kwena Mafaka joined the team for the first time

South Africa has included 18-year-old Kwena Mafaka in the ODI team for the first time. Mafaka performed brilliantly in the Under-19 World Cup this year, taking 21 wickets at an average of 9.71 and became the best player of the tournament. Apart from him, Marco Jansen, Otniel Bartman and Andile Phehlukwayo have been selected as fast bowling all-rounders in the team. However, Enrique Norkhia is out of the team due to a fracture in his toe.

Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller have also returned to this team led by captain Temba Bavuma, who played the last ODI against India in December 2023. Apart from this, Keshav Maharaj and Tabrez Shamsi have also returned to the team.

South Africa has announced its strong team in preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025. White-ball head coach Rob Walter said, “We have selected our strongest team. “Every player has the potential to be a match-winner on his day, and we are looking forward to the performance of this group.”
