‘Brook’s style is worth seeing’

Ponting said on “ICC Review”, “Yes, he (Harry Brook) could be the best Test batsman in the world at the moment. He is playing brilliantly, and the most important thing is that most of his performances have been on foreign soil.” Brook has so far scored 8-9 centuries in Test cricket, out of which he has scored 7 abroad. Ponting said, “His class, speed of scoring, and style of playing under the new England setup is worth watching.”

‘That’s why I joined IPL’

Ricky Ponting praised Brook and said, “I picked him in the IPL auction last year because I thought he was a once-in-a-generation player. He has shown his ability in Test cricket and I think he can perform well in all three formats.”

Harry Brook becomes number 1 test batsman

25-year-old Harry Brook has scored two centuries and one half-century in the three-match Test series against New Zealand. In the first Test at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, Brook played an innings of 171 runs and led England to victory by eight wickets. In the second Test played at Basin Reserve, Wellington, he scored 123 and 55 and played an important role in England’s huge victory of 323 runs and became the “Player of the Match”.

The effect of Brook’s excellent form was also visible in the ICC Test batting rankings, where he achieved the first position, leaving behind his teammate and former number one Joe Root. Brook has 898 rating points, while Root is just one point less than him.
