Indian cricket team veteran cricketer Virat Kohli spoke openly about his response and feelings after being elected by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the IPL 2008 mega auction. In that auction, a 19 -year -old player was ranked in the list of first class cricketers, as he did not make her debut for India at that time. Kohli revealed that he was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia when the auction took place.

Kohli said that this was his first IPL auction and surprisingly it became his last auction, as RCB started retaining him in the next years for his outstanding performance in the league.

Kohli was still a famous name, as he won the Under-19 World Cup for India as captain. However, after playing in the IPL, he got a chance to debut in international cricket for India.

Kohli was emotional remembering his first auction

Let me tell you that Virat Kohli, quoting the Indian Express, recalled his first IPL auction and said- When the first season auction was held, we were in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, and we were sold as first class cricketers, which was limited to Rs 20 lakh.

We went mad in the corridor of that hotel, because we got 20 lakh rupees. This was the feeling behind it, because we did not know what to expect, the opening ceremony, the full experience of meeting great cricketers, it was unrealistic to me.

So at the same time, Kohli has been seen playing for the same team continuously since the first season of IPL 2008. He is the only player in IPL history to play 18 consecutive seasons for the same team. He is also the highest run -scorer in IPL. Kohli has scored a total of 8447 runs in 262 matches played at an average of 39.47.
