Delhi: Cricket Australia (CA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Todd Greenberg has expressed his desire that he wants to see Indian players playing in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL). Greenberg has confirmed that Cricket Australia is repeatedly talking to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the subject to allow India’s players to play in this Australian League.
Cricket Australia CEO, especially the great batsman Virat Kohli. He said that Kohli’s presence can definitely increase BBL’s rating and audience’s interest.
Greenberg has said that they would prefer to welcome Indian players in BBL and talk with BCCI is going on. However, he does not expect that his wish will be fulfilled soon.
Talking to News18, Greenberg said, “We would like to welcome some Indian players in BBL. We will continue to talk with BCCI continuously. I would like to see Virat Kohli playing in BBL this year. This will definitely create interest in crowds and ratings, there is no doubt, at the moment, this is not happening, but we have such ambitions, but we are definitely such an ambitions.”
It is noteworthy that BCCI does not allow its male players to play in foreign T20 leagues. However, there is no such restriction for women players.
It is worth noting that many Indian women players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Jemima Rodrigues have already participated in the women’s Big Bash League. Indian all -rounder Deepti Sharma was also part of the London Spirit Team of The Hundred 2024, who won the title at the Oval ground in August last year.
