Delhi: Virat Kohli is counted among the greatest batsmen in the world. Apart from international cricket, he has also made several records with his batting in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which holds him in the category of Great of All Time. The 36 -year -old batsman recently became the first player in India and the fifth player in the world to complete 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. Recently, the star of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) told when his real career started in the IPL.
Virat Kohli said in a conversation with Geographstar, “In the first three years of the IPL, I did not get much batting opportunities in the top order. I was often sent in the lower order, so I could not prove myself completely in this league.”
He further said, “But from 2010 I started doing well continuously and till 2011 I started batting at number three regularly. My real IPL career started from there.”
Kohli also admitted that by playing IPL for 18 years, he got a chance to enhance his skills in T20 format.
The legendary batsman said, “The IPL challenges a different challenge, as its structure is different from other tournaments. It is not like a small bilateral series, but lasts for several weeks and your team’s position keeps changing on the table.”
Virat said, “Such changes mentally force you to face different pressures. This has been inspiring me to improve my T20 skills continuously.”
