Delhi: According to reports, the legendary batsman of Team India Virat Kohli has said to be adamant on his decision to retire from Test cricket, even if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested him to consider this decision once again.
According to the Times of India report, Kohli has informed the selectors that he no longer wants to play Test cricket. This decision came soon after Rohit Sharma’s recent Test retirement, causing BCCI’s concerns to deepen before the England tour.
However, Kohli was requested by the selectors to take part in the important Test series against England starting from June 20, but Kohli is adamant on his decision. It is believed that this issue will be finalized in the meeting of the selection committee to be held next week.
Virat Kohli made a Test debut against the West Indies in 2011 and since then he has played 123 Test matches. The right -handed batter has scored 9,230 runs in these matches and captained India in 68 Tests, out of which the team has won 40.
As a batsman, Kohli also has 7 double centuries. Kohli retired after the 2024 World Cup before T20 cricket and is currently focusing on ODI format.
If Virat says goodbye to Test cricket, it will be a big strategic challenge for Indian cricket, especially when the team is preparing for a difficult tour like England.
