Delhi: Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron on Friday, January 10, announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. He shared this news through a post on his social media account Instagram.
‘Fast bowling is my first love’
Aaron wrote in his post, “For the last 20 years, I have lived, felt and enjoyed the passion of fast bowling. “Today, with heartfelt thanks, I officially announce my retirement from representative cricket.”
He expressed his gratitude to BCCI and his state team Jharkhand Cricket Association. Apart from this, he also thanked the physios, trainers and coaches of the National Cricket Academy.
He said, “Today I am saying goodbye to the game to which I have completely dedicated my entire life. Now I hope to enjoy the small moments of life and stay connected to this game that has given me everything. Fast bowling is my first love, and despite being away from the field, it will always be with me.”
Varun’s cricket career
Varun Aaron played 9 Test and 9 ODI matches for India, in which he took a total of 19 wickets. He last participated in a Test match for India against South Africa in November 2015.
Varun Aaron also played 52 matches in IPL and was a part of teams like Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans.
