‘Hit his head…’ Ponting gave such advice to deal with Bumrah
‘They don’t think about a century’
The Indian captain said, “They (Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant) have only one thing in their mind – how to win the match for the team. He doesn’t think about a century. When you play with this mindset, personal performance happens automatically. The thought of making the team win motivates them to score big. If he is unable to do so with the bat, he tries to contribute to the team through fielding or bowling. This is their natural mindset.”
Praise for youth’s pressure-free game
Praising the fearless mentality and pressure-free game of today’s young players, Rohit said, “Today’s boys are very cool and do not carry much pressure. I’m talking about baggage, not suitcase(haha). In our time, we used to think more about scoring runs and performance, due to which we put pressure on ourselves. But, today’s generation is very different and this works in their favor also. Whenever I talk to him or listen to him, his thinking inspires me a lot.”
Great performance in the first test
In the first test, Yashasvi Jaiswal performed brilliantly and played an excellent inning of 161 runs, which was the fourth century of his test career. At the same time, Rishabh Pant scored 37 runs in the first innings, taking the team out on the backfoot. Shubman Gill, who was out of the first Test due to a thumb injury, is set to make a comeback in Adelaide. He scored a brilliant half-century in the practice match against Australian PM XI.
