Delhi: Madan Lal, a member of the Indian team, who won the 1983 World Cup, has expressed strong resentment over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Karnataka government. After the RCB’s IPL 2025 win, a huge crowd gathered during the celebrations in Bengaluru. There was a stampede in this crowd, in which 11 people lost their lives and many people were injured.
Madan Lal expressed resentment
People reached the stadium to get a glimpse of their choice players. However, the crowd became so much that the police and administration could not handle it. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased. But, Madan Lal says that there should be a case of Rs 100 crore on the government and RCB.
Madan Lal said, “People will not forget this incident, nor Virat Kohli. When people were dying, there was a celebration inside. It is very sad. It is very sad. The aggrieved families should sue RCB and the state government for ₹ 100 crore. BCCI also cannot escape its responsibility.”
RCB statement
RCB issued an official statement a few hours after the incident. He wrote, “We are deeply saddened by media reports, which have come out. RCB expresses condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones in this accident. As soon as we got information about the situation, we immediately changed our program and followed the advice of the local administration. We appeal to all our fans to be safe.”
