Delhi: England captain Jose Butler has raised objections to Shivam Dubey’s decision to play Harshit Rana as a conversion substitute. In the fourth T20 match played between India and England in Pune, when Shivam Dubey’s helmet hit, he was sent for checkup and Harshit Rana got a chance to play in the second innings. Rana took full advantage of this opportunity and took 3 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs.

What was ‘Like to Like’ replacement?

However, Jose Butler was not happy with this decision. He said that there was no uniform replacement between Harshit Rana and Shivam Dubey. According to Butler, India fielded a fast bowler instead of a batting all -rounder, which was not correct according to him. Butler said during the press conference, “It was not a like to like replacement. We do not agree with this. “

Butler further said, “It has happened that Harshit has worked on batting, or Dubey has increased the speed of 25 km per hour in his bowling.”

What do ICC rules say?

According to the ICC rules, conversion replacement is allowed if the replacement player is the same and his team does not get much benefit in the remaining part of the match. The decision of ICC match referee is final and no team has the right to appeal on it.

This has happened earlier in India

This was not the first time India has used the Concussion Substitute. In 2020, Yuzvendra Chahal was fielded as Ravindra Jadeja’s Concurrent Substitute in a T20 match between India and Australia, and won the ‘Player of the Match’ with three wickets.
