Controversy arose over WhatsApp message

Generally, the coach plays an important role in the selection process of any team. But, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took away this right from Jason Gillespie. Jason revealed that he was told through a message in a WhatsApp group that the head coach would have no role in team selection. He also accused the PCB that the board neither talked to him properly nor clarified any issue.

‘Tim Nielsen was also removed without any discussion’

Dismissal of assistant coach Tim Nielsen
Pakistan Cricket Board recently also removed assistant coach Tim Nielsen from his post. Nielsen was appointed in August 2024, but was ousted within a few months. On this Jason said, “My senior assistant coach Tim Nielsen was removed without any discussion. I was not told anything about this in advance. When all this happened, I felt that perhaps the board did not want to keep me here either.”

Big revelation on Babar Azam

Jason Gillespie also expressed his views on a decision related to Babar Azam. He said that when Babar Azam was dropped from the Test series against England, he had no role in it. This decision was taken by a completely new selection committee.

Jason made it clear in his statement that whatever happened to him in Pakistan cricket forced him to resign from the post of head coach.
