Delhi: Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is going to return to domestic cricket after a long gap of 12 years. Kohli, 36, will play in the last match of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group D against Railways from Delhi. The match will be held on 30 January at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced a free entry to the audience for this match in the stadium. However, there will be no telecast or live streaming of this match.

Return to Ranji Trophy after 12 years

Kohli did not play the match against Saurashtra last week, as he suffered a neck injury. But on Monday, he was included in the Delhi team led by Ayush Badoni for the match against the railway. This will be Kohli’s first match in domestic cricket, as he last played a Ranji Trophy against Uttar Pradesh in 2012 in Ghaziabad.

Why isn’t live streaming?

Due to Kohli’s return, this match is being considered very high-profile. However, this match will not be broadcast live. According to a DDCA official, “The BCCI has already fixed the telecast of three matches-Karnataka vs Haryana, Bengal vs Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir vs Baroda.”

Rohit Sharma’s recently played match in domestic cricket was shown on TV, but it was part of the BCCI’s pre -fixed schedule. The official also said that if the BCCI decides live streaming for Kohli’s match at the last moment, it will be a big logistic challenge. This will require multi-camera setup and crew deployment.

Due to lack of live telecast, now there is only one way, so that Virat can be seen playing and that is to go to the stadium and watch the game.
