Delhi: India’s cricket team is returning from Dubai after winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir reached Delhi on Tuesday, while captain Rohit Sharma returned to Mumbai. Last time, when India won the T20 World Cup 2024, the entire team came back together by the charter flight. But, this time the players and support staff are reaching different cities at different times.
After winning the T20 World Cup last year, an open bus parade and honor ceremony was held for the team at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. But, this time no such program has been kept at the moment.
IPL 2025 is going to start from March 22. In such a situation, the players want to rest for a few days before joining their franchise camp. Some players have also gone abroad on small holidays. Some franchises have already started their training, like Mumbai Indians started practicing at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, while Sunrisers Hyderabad started their camp this month.
India won their third Champions Trophy title by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final played at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. India became the first team to do so. However, this time there was no major celebration on the return of the players, so everyone left for their respective homes at different times. The reason for not celebrating is the preparation of the IPL and the players are resting after the big tournament.
