Why was Tilak Verma retired out? Right decision?

In the 16th match of IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Mumbai Indians by 12 runs. Lucknow gave a target of 204 runs to Mumbai, batting first at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in their home. Chasing Hardik Pandya & Company target, he was able to score only 191 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.

After the defeat of Mumbai, a decision taken by the management during the run chase is getting a lot of discussion. Fans are fiercely criticizing Mumbai on social media. In fact, Tilak Verma was called inside before the last ball of the 19th over and sent to Mitchell Santner to the ground.

Why was Tilak Verma retired out?

During the run chase against Lucknow Super Giants, Tilak Verma was not seen batting with the introduction that the team needed. He scored just 25 off 23 balls and was seen struggling against the Lucknow bowlers, due to which the management decided to get them out of the match and sent Mitchell Santner.

Was this decision of Mumbai Indians correct

Mitchell Santner, who replaced Tilak Verma, played just two balls and scored two runs. Hardirak Pandya played five balls of the last over, on which he managed to score just 8 runs. Hardik had refused a single on the third ball of the over, after which the commentators responded that if he had to do the same, there was no point in retiring Tilak. Avesh Khan conceded just 9 runs in the last over and Mumbai Indians suffered a shameful defeat by 12 runs. It would not be wrong to say that Mumbai’s decision was overshadowed by them.
