Delhi: Another disappointing innings, and another failure in Test cricket for Babar Azam. Even in the second innings against West Indies, he started well, but he got out at a crucial juncture. When Pakistan most needed their most experienced batsman to stay at the crease, but Babar once again failed and was out after struggling in the middle field.
The last century was in 2022
Babar Azam has played 61 Test innings so far, but has not scored a single century in the Test format. His last Test century came in December 2022, when he scored a century against New Zealand. Since then his performance has been continuously declining. Babar may be out of the team due to these three reasons.
No significant contribution since 2 years
Babar Azam’s last good Test performance came in December 2022, and since then he has not contributed much in 2023 and 2024. The special thing is that he played well abroad against South Africa, but he could not repeat the same performance on home grounds. His confidence seems to be decreasing and the bowlers are taking advantage of it. His Test average in 2023 was 22.66, which dropped to 20 in 2024.

No correction on old mistakes
From 2023 till now, Babar Azam is facing a lot of trouble with the ball coming inwards. For some reason he is not able to play this ball properly, and due to this his wicket falls again and again. Recently in the second innings too, Kevin Sinclair bowled an off-break which came in, and Babar could not play it properly. Despite so much experience, Babar is making the same mistakes again and again.

demand for new batsmen
Pakistan cricket has many good domestic players like Tayyab Tahir, Azan Awais, and Sahibzada Farhan, who are waiting to get their chance in Test cricket. Pakistan, like India, does not give many opportunities to its players, and in this situation it would be right if the selectors give a chance to a new and enthusiastic player in place of Babar.
